Physical Education
At GCA, we aim to provide high quality Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESPPA) that supports the physical health and emotional well-being of our pupils. We provide the children with a range of sporting opportunities. They will attain optimum physical and emotional development and have good health. Our physical education curriculum is ambitious and planned so that learning is progressively sequenced. At the beginning of each new unit, the children will recap previously taught skills and knowledge.
Throughout the new unit, the children will then develop and progress these skills further. The PE curriculum is broad and balanced. It enables all pupils to succeed, develop life skills and grow into healthy adults. Our children become physically literate, they improve their fitness, develop sporting skills and values. Children are also encouraged to broaden their skills and passion by attending after-school clubs, local clubs, festivals and competitions.
Our vision closely follows the aims of the School Games Award who aim to make a significant and lasting positive difference in the lives of young people by embedding physical activity and sport at the heart of schools, providing opportunities for everyone to compete, and develop lifelong active habits. It targets those with inequalities and low activity levels, striving to provide 60 minutes of physical activity daily and fostering personal development through sport and competition.
The program also promotes values like passion, determination, and teamwork, fostering a positive sporting culture within schools.
