The Eco-Schools Team had the following to say about our application and the hard work linked to it:

"It's wonderful that you have appointed such a large Eco-Committee, this shows your schools excellent commitment to both the programme and the eco-cause."

"It was great to see that the older children carried out your Environmental Review and that you noticed areas where you are doing well, as well as areas in which you could improve upon. It is really in depth and has clearly taken much effort – great work!"

"We loved how all of your Eco-Committee were involved in creating your Action Plan and your 3 topics – Biodiversity - maintaining current Bug hotels, planting a wildflower area and conducting a before and after survey of wildlife in your school grounds. Transport – Introducing a Park n Ride scheme and a staff car share plan. Healthy Eating – plant seeds to grow healthy food to be used in cooking lessons and create a gardening club. These are all great actions for you to monitor and evaluate your progress."

"Your curriculum links were very clear and creative and we loved how the children learned about different types of litter and how different items can be recycled and that nearly all materials can be reused and that the message was then sent home to parents asking them to engage in positive chats about litter."

"We were really impressed by your evidence. Your Informing and Involving work is very impressive. We love that your pupils have taken their great work beyond the school gates and into their homes and local community. This is a very challenging aspect of the Eco-Schools programme, so your Eco-Committee should be very proud of their successes in this area!"

"Your greatest successes are centred around young people's engagement and enjoyment in carrying out litter picks and keeping your school and local community clean and tidy and now composting your food waste - this is a real testament to staff at your school who have demonstrated that being eco-friendly doesn't have to be difficult and no doubt created a future generation of environmentalists in the process- well done!"

We are so proud of this recognition and the important message this gives our pupils and community. 

A special thank you to Mrs Harman, who took on the leadership of 'Eco' this year and who has worked tirelessly to make us the eco-friendly school we are today. We can't wait to hear and see what is next for the Eco-Council and how we can further improve over the next few years.
