Achievement & Progress
The strong management systems we have developed at Godmanchester School enable the rapid progress and high achievement of all pupils. The Assertive Mentoring system currently in place at Godmanchester School closely assesses and tracks the progress of each pupil throughout his or her time in school.
Pupil progress targets are set for each class in every year group, which ensures a steady rate of good to outstanding progress for every pupil; these are monitored and reviewed regularly. Policies for marking, guidance and feedback ensure that pupils understand how to improve their work by receiving frequent detailed feedback from their teachers, while skilful and targeted questioning is employed to ensure teachers are able to monitor learning during lessons and respond with any necessary actions to secure learning.
Measurement of pupil progress is based on the national points and levels. This includes a focus on attaining specific levels at the end of Key Stage 1 and then Key Stage 2, establishing and monitoring expected progress in between. Progress for children between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 is measured through added value.
