Reach Out

In this morning's assembly, we discussed this year's theme for Anti-Bullying Week - Reach Out.

We spoke about how important it is to reach out and talk to someone if you experience or see unkindness. We also spoke about how doing this takes courage but what can result could change the lives of others.

Linked to this and following this half-term's assembly theme of Inspirational People. We then looked at the braver shown by two inspiration people who reached out and stood up for the injustice they were experiencing.

Malala Yousafzai, a campaigner for girls' education, stood up and spoke out against the Taliban. Despite being shot for her voicing her views and opinions, Malala has continued to speak out and raise world-wide support and understanding.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr wanted everyone to be treated equally whatever the colour of their skin. He is remembered for giving powerful speeches and leading peaceful protests in which he and others spoke out about equal rights and ending segregation.

As always, the children shared their views brilliantly.

We ended the assembly by recapping the importance of our network hands and how beyond the five trusted adults identified on the network, the children can speak to any adult in the school about their concerns, worries or questions.
