Our History curriculum provides our pupils with knowledge to form a coherent, chronological understanding of Britain’s past. This helps them to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups. It also promotes the importance of all children having a strong sense of British identity and values.

This knowledge enables pupils to understand how people’s lives have shaped our nation and how Britain has influenced and been influenced by the wider world. To be classed as significant, the people and events in our curriculum are: remarkable, resulted in change, revealing of the time, remembered today, resonates/ripples with future generations. (Christine Counsell)
