Year 1 Part, Part, Whole

Year 1 have worked on using part, part, whole models to support the children’s understanding of addition.
The children have counted out the individual parts and then combined them visually to find the whole. The children have then written this information into a number sentence.
They practised the symbol for plus + and ‘is equal to’ =. The children were shown the number sentence written with digits and words
